About the festival

Hope 2008 is an initiative of the churches of Britain and Ireland which is helping to demonstrate Christian faith in action and to explain the meaning of that faith in villages, towns and cities throughout the UK. And that includes Ripon!

Ripon Churches Together have got together to plan a series of events throughout 2008 to support this campaign. As part of this, Holy Trinity Ripon had the idea of an angel festival - like Kettlewell's scarecrow festival, but a bit more heavenly!

You're invited to either make your own display of one or more angels (and perhaps enter it into our competition), or to come and see all the scarecrows that have been made (perhaps following one of the trail maps).

Over the weekend of 3-5 May 2008, our church will also be open so you can see various displays inside, as well as enjoy refreshments or lunch. On the last day, there will be a prize-giving ceremony at Holy Trinity Ripon.

Fine out what's on as part of the festival from Saturday 3 May - Monday 5 May.

Other churches in Ripon - as part of Hope '08:

Methodist Art: 'Glimpses of Glory'
March 2008 - There will be an exhibition of 35 works from the Methodist Church Collection of Modern Christian Art at Ripon Cathedral and at Allhallowgate Methodist Church, Ripon. See website.

More to come as they are announced.
